Thanks Rick. I really appreciate these helpful posts on hymns as I plan my hymnody...
I see that you didn't suggest LSB #638, "Eat This Bread" as a possibility for the John 6 pericopes. What do you think of this hymn?
Thanks for your kind remarks. I'm pleased if my hymn suggestions are helpful to others.
Regarding "Eat This Bread," I don't have any strong particular objections to the hymn, but I don't personally care for it, either. In general, I am not in favor of Taize "hymnody," in the first place; especially because it is driven by a different piety and spirituality than than of our Lutheran faith and confession. In any case, I don't find that this hymn in question contributes or adds anything of significant help or importance. On the other hand, there are any number of much stronger hymns on the Sacrament of the Altar; so that is where my own thinking and suggestions tend.
have you posted hymns for series b propers 21-ff?
thank you for the help with hymn selection.
peace,

Michael, thanks for your comment. I've been working on the hymns for Propers 21-25, and I should have those posted soon. Running behind at the moment, for a variety of reasons, but glad if my efforts are of benefit to others.
