Rick,

Thanks for posting the hymns! Is this your work or have you used a source or a combination?

I'm glad to offer my suggestions, Mike, and I'm always pleased if they prove helpful to others.

I've taken into account the hymn suggestions of the "LSB Hymn Selection Guide," which I helped to develop in the final year of the hymnal project. Along with that, however, I've taken a number of other factors into account, resulting in a substantially different resource. In particular, I've been deliberate about establishing an LSB "Kernlieder" (a core body of hymns used regularly each year). Along with that, I've attempted to incorporate a somewhat wider circle of catechetical hymns. And in my selections for each week, I've tried to be sensitive to the place and function of the hymns within the structure of the Service.

The "LSB Hymn Selection Guide" is a worthwhile resource, and I don't have any desire or intention to compete with it. My goals are somewhat different, primarily for the sake of my own pastoral practice, and so the end results are more tightly defined. It would be interesting, at some point, to compare the similarities and differences that have resulted, but I've not done so yet.
