Hi Rick-
I always appreciate these hymn-selection guides, and use them to compare with my own to make sure I've considered all the best choices. I noticed that you selected "Thy Strong Word" as a distribution hymn for Sexagesima. That has the "A" word in it, which most, if not all, historic-lectionary parishes would eschew from Septuagesima on.
FWIW-

Thanks for the heads up, Brother Esget, as well as for your kind words. I'm glad my efforts are helpful; and I appreciate your calling "Thy Strong Word" to my attention. I'll take a look at that when I can and make adjustments.
Thanks again to Father Esget for alerting me to the presence of "Alleluia" in "Thy Strong Word," which is avoided during Pre-Lent (as also throughout Lent).
It turns out that several other hymns among my suggestions also included the "A" word; so I am in the process of revising my suggestions. Those changes should be reflected above by the end of the day.
two years later still using the -gesimas. We await Lent for the omission of the Alleluias and thus sing "Alleluia, Song of Gladness" on Quinquagesima. I see no reason to begin Lent before Lent. Let the Gesimas be a common time. Thanks so very much, Rick, for all your work though I know you no longer use this series of Sundays. Tom Olson
