For anyone within relatively easy driving distance of Indianapolis, we'd be pleased to have you join us for a day of catechesis in the Word of God and prayer at our 2007 Worship & Spiritual Care Workshop. It will be held at Advent Lutheran Church in Zionsville (northwest corner of Indianapolis) on Saturday, 15 September, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This is an annual event, which has been particularly well attended and well received over the past several years.
The plenary speaker for this year's workshop will be the Reverend Klemet Preus of Plymouth, Minnesota, author of the recent CPH book, The Fire and the Staff. His main talk will be on "Lutheran Spirituality," and then he'll also be giving a sectional presentation on nurturing that faith and life "from the cradle to the grave" (drawing upon his experience with Higher Things, of which he is the president). Pastor Preus is a great speaker, engaging and entertaining, but also with a great deal of substance in what he has to say. Whether you've heard him in the past or not, it would be worth your while to come.
Other sectional speakers will include the Reverend David Petersen of Redeemer, Fort Wayne, on "The Lutheran View of the Rubrics: More than Stage Directions," and the Reverend David Koeneman of Immanuel, Decatur (Indiana), on "The LSB as Devotional Resource." I'll have the privilege of doing a sectional, myself, on "The Role of Hymnody in Teaching the Faith."
Especially for musicians, there will be sectional opportunities for a choral reading session with Mr. Ken Rogner of Fort Wayne, and an organist workshop with Kantor Kevin Hildebrand of the Fort Wayne Seminary. Really, there's something for everyone included in the course of the day (even in addition to the lunch that is provided with the cost). It's not just for pastors and musicians, but for anyone who cares for the life of the church, whether youth or adult.
The workshop will begin with the Order of Matins at 9:30 a.m., and will conclude with a hymn festival featuring the hymnody of Paul Gerhardt in this 400th anniversary year of his birth.

Any chance of recording the presentations and putting them on the web??
We had requests for recording the presentations last year, too, but weren't able to manage it. We're hoping to work that out this year, and I'll be sure to publicize the availability of any recordings we are able to make of the workshop.
